The human being is not made for sitting. That is why the body tries to regulate itself when sliding back and forth, tilting or supporting the head. This is often not noticed by the child with full consciousness. If adults understand these appearances as natural reactions of the body and not as a lack of discipline, then an important step from a “school of sitting” to a school in which sitting gets in motion is done. The willingness of teachers and parents to accept this becomes a decisive condition for the pupils´ change of behaviour and their ability for a sitting behaviour in motion. Further realisable changes of the sitting conditions should be aimed at.

The ability of “sitting in motion”

Change between front, middle and back sitting posture.

Relief of the spinal column by the relieving postures while writing, reading and listening.

Change of the posture by working cross legged, crouching, in dorsal or prone position.
