Self-Massage

Concept:

The children are sitting and doing a tapping massage on their own. They gently tap their arms, legs and upper body.

Variations:

stroking, kneading, pressing, tugging or using the fingers to crawl over the body

stroking over body parts or moving different materials (i.e. absorbent cotton, cloth, hedgehog ball, tennis ball, washcloth, brush) in circles

massaging a partner

linking massage to an animal story

 

 

 

 

 

Foot Massage

Concept:

The children take their socks off in order to discover their feet. The feet can be stroked; the toes can be pulled (and counted). Thumb and forefinger (pincer grip) are used to tug the sole and dorsum of foot.

Variation:

foot arch rolls back and forth on different items (Kinder Easter Egg, brick)

 

 

 

 

 

Ladybird-Song

Story:

 

Movements:

Daddy-ladybird lands on my back,

 

forefinger and middle finger used to crawl back

mummy is directly on his track

 

only forefingers crawl faster

having itsy-bitsy kiddies in her bag.

 

all fingers tipping faster

All are looking for some fun
so they start some dancing in the sun

 


fingers tipping even faster

and fly away, when they are done.
